Partial loads: shipping directions
Partial loads are defined as loads from multiple customers carried by a single vehicle. Generally, this method of transportation is considered to be cost-efficient and environmentally friendly, since several orders are delivered using one vehicle. In other words, the customer books a vehicle space for a shipment, instead of booking the entire vehicle to carry the shipment. This ensures a much more efficient transportation of inexpensive shipments.
Such method of transportation is advisable where a cargo weights up to three tons or has a volume of up to ten cubic meters. The cargo is subject to the Door-to-Door delivery (that is, directly to the consignee), or it may be delivered to a customs office of the consignee’s choice.
The delivery time of a partial load depends on the load quantity and the shipping route. For example, a cargo can travel from/to Vilnius within 1 to 2 days (via Baltic countries); 4 to 5 days (via Scandinavian and Benelux countries); 5 to 6 days (via England, Italy, Austria, Spain, and Balkan countries); 3 to 10 days (via CIS countries).
The warehouses of Smart Shipping, UAB are particularly suitable for the storage and consolidation of delivered goods. The vehicles necessary for the transportation of partial loads are selected depending on the situation, although land transport is the most used option for shipping partial loads.
