Veterinary supervision and certificates
A veterinary certificate is issued together with a veterinary entry document by the State Food and Veterinary Service (Valstybinė maisto ir veterinarijos tarnyba (VMTV)) or a border control post in the veterinary field (pasienio veterinarijos postas (PVP)). Successful transportation of goods when importing or exporting livestock is impossible without these documents.
To obtain a veterinary certificate for export and a veterinary entry document, the cargo has to be inspected by a state veterinarian. A veterinary certificate for export is required for those exporting goods to third countries or to another EU country with the aim of exporting to the Eurasian Economic Union from that country.
In addition, when exporting animals, an intra trade certificate is also issued.
